confusio #000 - nao sei pra que eh que perco tempo com futebol

Barcelona is currently quite simply the better team. The discussion on Real playing counter attack is inocuous. You cannot compete with this amazing, once in history generation of Barcelona players that could play tiki taka blindfolded in zero gravity beating them at their own game, and whoever tries that is a hopeless romantic that confuses a sport (competition) with an ideological statement. What is important here is that neutral observers do not get carried away by mediatic trends. There is no such thing as an ideal way to play football, and while we cannot discuss aesthetics due to all its subjectivity, i can say that very honestly, how Barcelona plays is not at all exciting for me. Of course, Xavi, Messi and Iniesta are absolutely unbelievable, they are probably all in the top 10 players i have ever seen play, and this is what there is to celebrate in the Barcelona game, but the 700 per cent possession is just plain boring and frustrating. In this last game, for example, people probably dont realize it because the dogma is that of perfection and angelicality in barcelonas game, but all the boredom of the game came from barcelona keeping possession within their own pitch, trying to call real madrid out and stretch the distance between lines - which they obvisouly wouldnt because there is no use in trying to cooperate with the other team just in order for the casual spectator around the world to enjoy a one team exhibition, as if it was the harleem globetrotters against some random local team. Real Madrid scrambled, fought desperately with their own style, tried to survive, as any group of human beings would in the face of a formidable machine that has been assembled through more than 20 years of cohesive effort towards a footballing ideal. Messi, Iniesta, Busquets, Xavi, Puyol etc, these are all brainwashed players (in the good sense) that have been playing all their lives in this system, you cannot compete with that or unfairly expect anyone to, no matter how much money is spent.

And thats part of the appeal of Real Madrid for me, they are a rebel team, an imperfect humanized team (representing the full spectrum of virtues and frailties mankind carries) that attempts to antagonize the supremacy of the all knowing, self-proclaiming, omni-adored guardians of the one and only ever legitimately conceived footballing ideal that we should worship and respect with no exception. I always found these universal bold statements unattractive and naive. It always sounds too plastic for me, and the fact that everyone falls for it makes me want it to be challenged, so that people realize that there is nothing in the world that can be defined on a black and white scale. The media polarize and manipulate our stances and we just fall for that, if not immediately then with time and through endless repetition of the same key words and ideas. Important not to. People can have their own preferences on what makes them happy while watching a football game but FC Barcelona is quite simply not the footballing incarnation of Zeus on a grass pitch, nor the people who appreciate their game the nicest and purest human beings on earth, disregard those ideas.
