I did not insult nerds - I have come forward with a potential solution to their social phobias and general face-to-face-group-situation unease:

Consider the road to social habilitation to be a long, dark and humid tunnel traversing a huge scary mountain called Tarnaputirama, which in Nepali means 'The Great Empathetic Divide'. Tarnaputirama divides the realm of human condition into two separate regions: Bangi Or, which means 'Locus Of Isolation And Individualistic Illusion', and Ragontra, which means 'Encompassment Of Integration In An Holistic Social Reality'. We are always born in Bangi Or, because part of becoming is to cross the tunnel. I don't know who decided this, but in retrospect, I don't think it had the desired effect. Anyways, about a century ago, Bangi Or didn't have the internet nor any other form of entertainment, so there were few reasons to remain there. Individuals would therefore almost always enforce themselves upon the tortuous path of self-affliction, taking the tunnel and enduring pain, fear and the ultimate shame of arriving to Ragontra and not knowing what to do or how to act once there. Thing is, things have changed, and as Bangi Or gets more and more entertaining, fewer and fewer people feel the need to embark on the journey to the other side. Many try to do it at some point, but most give up half way through and wonder whether it's worth it. In the end, most feel comfortable with being in Bangi Or and just pretend that nothing exists on the other side. More recently, people in Bangi Or actually mock Ragontra habitantes, trying to make it as if being from Bangi Or is much cooler than being a Ragontra, which is has been proven to be some form of denial circlejerk strategy devised by frustrated neckbeards and centralized in 4chan.

So here's the formula for nerds: in case you are in Bangi Or or just need to travel to it every once in a while (like am doing right now because of forced extended social seclusion), the solution is to get on that tunnel and keep going, humbly and fearlessly - not ashamed to get it wrong once you arrive in Ragontra. It will work out, sooner or later. Neither Ragontra's habitants are flawlessly social beings (as it might seem at first), nor you are in such dissonance with the world that you won't ever be able to string a couple of interesting social actions in your life. What sets everyone apart is the ability to pretend (to realize) everything is under control. After you feel comfortable, empathy will follow - no you don't have to think about it, it just comes naturally, because it's just a mild form of love, hence not achievable through rationality. Don't worry, it'll be fine - trust me, i'm an engineer.
